The New and Improved Deck

Hello and happy Friday! Hopefully everyone has lots of sun and fun in their future this weekend. I finally have that bigger post to share with you guys! It took me a bit to get the after pictures, but better late than never.

We love our deck, but we realized this year that it might not be that safe for an energetic toddler. The deck was close enough to the ground that steps weren't really needed, but high enough that Braxton could fall and hurt himself. It was between 6 and 8 inches from the ground, not something Braxton would look for while trying to get off the deck. Here are a few pictures from 2009:

Backyard #3

Hi there! Well I promise that this post was worth the wait. This was the biggest change we have made to the house yet.
We decided earlier in the year that there was just not enough privacy in our backyard. We felt that the whole neighbourhood was able to just look into our backyard and see us. Plus, we had to secure the backyard a little better for the dogs.

So we planned, designed, saved, got help from my Dad, purchased the lumber and started building a fence! Here are some of the pictures during the process:

Backyard #2

Hello all! I have another post about the backyard for you guys today.

The next thing that we tackled was putting a shed in the backyard. There was not one when we moved in, and we had been storing all of our tools and such in the basement crawl space. So it was a must have.

We installed a base for the shed on an incline of the backyard to try to help with the steep sloping we have towards the back.

Backyard #1

Hi all! You sick of me yet? I hope not!

I thought I would show you some pictures of our backyard from before we moved in, to what it looks like now. BIG difference! We just build a wood privacy fence this year, and that was a lot of work! And another post.

I figure I will show you over a few posts, that way they are not too long.

But first the before pictures.

You can see my itty-bitty deck, the overgrown trees and plants, and the overall lack of any landscaping. But we had vision, there was potential in this backyard.

You can also see that the neighbours had planted bushes along the fence line of their properties. You know what that equals - WEEDS! Yes, they don't see them, so they don't get rid of them. That means you spend 40 hours a year getting the weeds on the other side of the fence to keep them out of your yard!
