Hi everyone, can you believe that there are only 37 days until Christmas! Crazy, I can't believe how fast this year has gone by.
Today I want to share with you a quick and fun way to dress up the goodies that you give to people around the holidays. I have found that it is always nice to have recipe cards either included or ready to hand out in case people ask for them. It is also a great way for the giftee's (is that even a word?) to know what they are receiving. It doesn't hurt to be ready, and why not make them really cute and fun?
I found these recipe cards at Micheals last year in the dollar bin (I looked again this year, no luck):
I thought they would be perfect to have ready for if people ask. Or, if you make cookie jar gifts, they work really good for those as well.
First you will need to gather your supplies:
You will need:
Scissors
Recipe card
Washi tape/decorative tape
Various colours of paint pens/sharpies
Write your recipe on the recipe card (or if doing cookie jars, the instructions), making sure to include oven temperature, time and serving:
Next, you will want to use the washi tape to decorate the blank side of the recipe card however you want:
You can do anything you want for the decorations, it's completely up to you. You can go sleek and modern:
Or fun and quirky:
It's completely up to you, and that's what makes this such a fun craft. How cute would it be to have you kids decorate the recipe cards for their teachers, grandparents or friends? It adds an even more personal touch to your homemade gift.
You can literally use anything, some other ideas include:
-stickers -twine -glitter
-stencils -stamps -ribbon
Really, anything you think will look nice. And you can use plain recipe cards for this as well, or print your recipe on cardstock and make your own cards.
Hopefully this inspires some creative recipe cards this season!
Kerby
